Energy Efficient Gas, Wood-Burning & Pellet Inserts
Maybe your existing fireplace isn’t functioning the way it should, or it’s reached the end of its safe service life. Or, maybe you just really need to refresh the look of a tired, old unit. An insert can be a great, affordable way to improve your existing fireplace and home.
Inserts can be retrofitted into the space your current unit inhabits. They’re designed to improve the look and performance of an existing unit and can burn gas, wood or wood pellets.
Mountain Man Fireplace and Chimney carries a wide selection of gas, wood-burning and pellet-burning inserts, in lots of different looks and sizes. Efficiency Is A Big Boost When It Comes To Inserts
Older wood-burning fireplaces aren’t exactly considered to be the most efficient heating units. According to figures from the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association, these generally have efficiency ratings of between five and ten percent. A big contributor to that inefficiency is simply the design: old wood-burning fireplaces are designed for open combustion, and as air in the room gets pulled into the fire, it causes a fast, energy-wasting burn.
Inserts, on the other hand, are built with doors that still allow for a full view of the fire but slow the burn down, allowing more complete combustion. The Hearth, Patio, and Barbecue Association’s Leslie Wheeler has said that adding a fireplace insert has been known to reduce energy bills by as much as 40 percent.
Traditional wood-burning fireplaces also emit significant emissions, but the emissions coming from modern wood-burning inserts are almost negligible.
Aesthetics Are Important
Whether you’re looking to sell your home or just wanting more enjoyment out of it, we know how important aesthetics are. We all want our homes to reflect our tastes, and a beautiful fireplace can elevate a room’s look to be something special. Meanwhile, a run-down fireplace can make a whole home feel run-down.
Inserts can be a great way to give a fireplace a facelift, with an efficiency boost as a bonus. We carry inserts that have the look of a traditional masonry fireplace, and we have units that are bolder and more modern, with clean and sleek lines.
Lets Talk About Fuel
When you’re considering a new insert, you’ll also have to consider the fuel you’re going to burn, and weigh your heating needs, budget and lifestyle.
Gas is very convenient, and requires very little fire-to-fire work. Wood is affordable and nostalgic, and it also allows for warm fires even if the power goes out. Wood pellets are very convenient, with a hopper that feeds pellets into your fire. Since the pellets are made using waste materials (sawdust, largely), they can also be a very eco-friendly option.
Talk to us about what you want and what you need, and we’ll help you find an insert that you’ll love to use and show off.
